I have been having a long hard think about the music that we played at the Loft on Saturday night and I wanted to talk to you guys about it. So here is the question:

Do you prefer old school “Manchester House” or would you do you like new (or recent) house music?

I’ll be honest and say “I like to play new and recent tunes” and get people excited about new music. It’s good to expose people to new music that they haven’t heard before but I am a DJ who likes to party so I also like to play songs that will make you dance. Otherwise there is no point in DJ’ing if no-one is dancing!

My idea is to have two different nights at the Loft if we can make it happen. The first night is “Magic Manchester” and we can have new music with one or two old tunes thrown in but not all night. Then the second night would be an old school night where we play old music all night. I think this is better because you then know what to expect.

So what do you think? Would you prefer it that way?

I’m really sorry about the interruption in the middle of the night when the stripper came on stage. I don’t really know what happened there but Alex was told to turn off the music and play a CD that the guy had brought. I just hope that the bride-to-be enjoyed herself as most people I spoke to didn’t enjoy it! It really is one of the maddest things that has ever happened to me while I have been DJ’ing. But still it meant I could go for a drink at the bar!

Anyway, a good night was had by all in the end and I hope you don’t think that I will always be DJ’ing with strippers from now on! Maybe Alex, Simone and I will strip for you next time instead…

Are you ready for Saturday night at the Loft Club? I certainly am. I’m really looking forward to it as it’s always an amazing party at the Loft Club. Me, Alex Harmony and DJane Simone will be rocking the dancefloor so get yourself down there. Alex and I will also be doing a warm-up set in Strandgut. It’s a great bar in Mannheim and it does great food. Come along there first and we’ll have a few funky tunes for you to get you in the mood for the party.

So I’ve got some big tunes for you which I’m looking forward to playing when we get to the Loft:

• Lil’ Love - “Little Love” This is a great Italian remake of the Lisa Stansfield classic “People Hold On”. The original version is massive for the club and there are a couple of nice mixes from the Soul Avengerz too.
• Late Night Alumni - “Empty Streets (Haji & Emmanuel Mix)” This is a funky little tune which has been given the Seamus Haji rework. Phat drums and a funky bassline.
• Supafly vs Fishbowl - “Let’s Get Down (Full Intention Club Mix)” This is simply massive. It’s a tune you’re going to be hearing all summer in Ibiza. Massive house mixes from Full Intention or a funky breakbeat original. HUGE!
• Mylo vs Miami Sound Machine - “Doctor Pressure” A cheeky bootleg of “Drop The Pressure” with a vocal from Gloria Estafan.
• Jenn Cunetta - “Come Rain Come Shine (Stonebridge Mix)” You want pianos? I’ve got the pianos for you! Stonebridge is on the mix and it’s pianos all the way. Funky as f*ck!
• Nu Electric - “No Matter What (Hoxton Whores Mix)” Funky house music with a latin vibe. The Hoxton Whores are getting even hotter with this mix.
• Afro Medusa - “Pasilda (Haji & Emanuel 2005 Remix)” Haji & Emanuel are on fire at the moment and they’ve done a nice mix of this classic tune. I’m not sure if it’s as good as the original mix that I always play (and that you guys love!) but it still sounds fresh.

What the hell is Peter Presta playing at by making a record with The Hoff? I got sent this the other day and the vocal mixes are crimes against music. Have a listen HERE. The instrumental version is fine as it contains absolutely no vocals and is quite funky. But really Mr. Presta should know better!

Have you picked up a copy of the new album “The Understanding” by Royksopp yet? I excitedly rushed out to the shops last Monday to get a copy of the limited edition CD as I loved their last album. I have to say that I’m just not enjoying it as much as I thought I would. Perhaps I was expecting too much from it but it doesn’t seem to have any big tunes like the first album did. Maybe it’s an album that will grow on me but we’ll have to see.

What a party we had with the Happy Couple! Far too much of everything was consumed and everyone partied like it was 1999 all over again!
