Teledisko Old School Special
Friday 2nd December 2005
Soho Club
Mannheim
Germany

Luke45 and Alex Harmony are back with another of their famous Teledisko nights. It has been running for over a year now and is going from strength to strength. Their last party was packed so make sure you get there early for this one.

They are holding a special old school party for you and it’s going to be rocking! Old school house and electro beats will be the order of the day so expect plenty of madness. I’m really looking forward to this one. It’s going to be hot!

Alex and Luke – Get your website sorted so I can link to it and also get me a copy of the flyer so I can put it online! 😉

News : Finishing a track

 Monday, October 17th 2005, 6:00 pm

Olav Basoski has written an interesting post on his Rootz Records forum about finishing a track:

Finishing a track

It’s something that I really suffer from when creating new tunes. I have spent the past 10 years saying “I will release a record this year” and never manage to do it. I’ve got so many tunes that I have started but never finished because I don’t think they sound good enough. But like Olav says, they sound awful after you have listened to them a million times! It’s funny when you look back at old records because I’ve got so many in my collection that when I listen to now I think “…Wow! That’s a terrible production…”. This must be what Olav is talking about. Just finish and release a record and then move on to the next one as they can never be perfect. I guess you’re always learning.

So I’m going to get back into the studio and finally finish a tune or two. Alex Harmony and I started one about a month ago and that is lying half finished on my hard drive. It started really well and then I got bored with it. I’ve also got a great idea for a bootleg I wanted to do with an R&B acappella I got hold of. It’s time to get started and make the tunes happen.

The best plan is to try and give myself a time limit for them. I suppose it’s best to say that I will get them finished before the next gig so I can play them out. I’ll also put them online for you to have a listen to (…and perhaps have a laugh at!). We’ll see what happens.

News : My new turntables

 Friday, October 14th 2005, 1:26 pm

I’ve decided to get a new set of turntables which only play 3 inch records:

Mini turntable

My sets might be a bit shorter from now on! 😉

Apparently it’s called a “Triple Incophone” and it is being released by The White Stripes to play a limited edition 3 inch record! At least the records wouldn’t be that heavy when carrying them to a gig. Read about it here. I wonder what it is like to scratch with it? Haha!

News : New look

 Thursday, October 13th 2005, 9:52 pm

I’ve decided to give the website a bit of a new look and added some new features to it along the way. Hopefully you’ll like it. I’m not convinced that I like the picture of myself in the header bar but I’ll leave it for now until a find a new one!

Navigation around the site should be a bit easier now. I’ve put some quick links at the top of the page so you can head straight to the new mixes and podcasts. I’ve also added a list on the right hand side of the latest DJ dates and the latest mixes. Click on them and it’ll take you straight to them.

Let me know what you think and tell me if you find any errors!…

News : Server problems

 Thursday, October 6th 2005, 12:25 am

I think my podcast has become a bit too popular! I seem to have had over 1000 hits on the website yesterday (5th October) when I normally get about 100! So if you see errors then I’m really sorry. My web host can’t seem to handle the load on the databases. I’m trying to sort it out but you might see a few errors until I do. Looks like I’m going to have to pay for more bandwidth!

News : Old school

 Wednesday, October 5th 2005, 6:00 pm

Thanks to Dom for pointing me at this old school flyer:

Milk Club 1993

I’ve still got the flyer somewhere myself.
I’ll have to scan it in and create a gallery of old flyers.

It was the first gig I did in Germany at Milk! in Mannheim in August 1993. DJ Vuish came with me although he couldn’t DJ at the time! I seem to remember him being christened MC Manchester as he grabbed the mic and started MC’ing. I’ve got the pictures somewhere so I’ll have to get them online too. Good times!

Where any of you there?

News : Podcast madness!

 Wednesday, October 5th 2005, 2:08 pm

Well thanks to everyone who downloaded the podcast and enjoyed. It seems I’ve managed to get links to the podcast from other places on the net as I’ve had downloads from Germany, UK, Holland and America!

You’ve generally said good things about the show so I’m really happy about the way it has worked out. And yes, Clare does have a sexy voice for the voiceovers doesn’t she?

Some people didn’t like the fact that I talk on the show but I guess we’ll just have to find a happy medium between music and chat. The reason I talk on it is that I wanted it to be a bit different from the mixes that I post. I wanted to give you some information about new tunes that are out there and which promo 12″ you can pick up. Also, I don’t allow the tracks to be played in their entirety so that there are no copyright issues. I don’t want naughty people picking up these promotional tracks and sticking them on the net for people to download or I’ll get into trouble! Most of the stuff I played on the first show hasn’t been released yet and the record companies won’t be happy if it appears on P2P networks!

So what do you think about the show? Give me some feedback in the comments below or use the contact page. How was it for you?
