News : Houston, we have a podcast problem!

 Wednesday, January 11th 2006, 10:19 pm

There seems to be some issue with connecting to the server that is hosting all of the MP3s for the podcasts and mixes. This may only be a temporary thing but I just thought I’d better let you know. Please don’t unsubscribe! It will get sorted as soon as I can get hold of the technical support staff for the company who host the audio. Hopefully it’s only a temporary measure and the servers will be back in the morning. If they’re not then I have a backup plan which will be in force by the weekend. Sorry about that! You’ll just have to listen to the old shows while you wait.

The new show should be online by Wednesday 18th January and it’s going to feature a guest mix by a good DJ and promoter friend of mine, Matt Brooks. He helps to promte the A&E nights in Manchester and around the North West of England and he’s got something a bit different for us. Get ready for some dirty disco!

Cruze and Vuish were in the house! Kosta is hiding behind...

A big thanks to all of the party people who came down to the Loft club on Saturday night. The club was rammed and the people were ready to party. Big thanks especiall to Luke45 and Alex Harmony for warming up before us and also to DJ Vuish who returned to the club in fine form after an almost 4 year hiatus. I’ll even forgive him for playing Foreigner as the last track of the night.

It was great to see lots of old faces there and to also meet lots of new people. Thanks for buying us lots of drinks and making us feel very hungover on Sunday! My head still hurts after a combination of beer, jaegermeister, erdbeerlimes and vodka and red bull. “Viel zu arg!” as they say!

DJ Vuish. The monster of rock!
It’s almost time for the Monster of Rock, DJ Vuish to return to Germany. Are you ready to party?

The Cruze and Vuish reunion gig is happening on Saturday night (7th January 2006) at the Loft Club in Ludwigshafen. It’s been four long years since we DJ’ed together in Germany and it’s time to get those dancing shoes on. I would advise you to email the Loft Club or give them a ring as the last time we DJ’ed together it was a lock out. If you haven’t reserved tickets then get there for 23.00 when the doors open or you might not get in!

Cruze and Vuish are going to mix up some funky new tunes and some classic Manchester goodness so it’s going to be a large party. If you’re really lucky you might hear some soft rock classics from Mr. Vuish too but only if I let him play them! See you there.

Oh and thanks to Vivian for the use of the picture!

News : The podcast massive!

 Thursday, January 5th 2006, 11:00 pm

So who’s a popular DJ then? Well, erm…me it seems! With over 200 GB of bandwidth used in December 2005 I think that the podcast is getting pretty popular. There were around 2150 people downloading episode 6 in one month. How mad is that?

So a big “hello” to all of the new podcast listeners and lovers of funky house music! I hope you’re enjoying the shows and I hope you all continue to listen. I’ve got lots of new funky tunes to play you in 2006 and some phat productions of my own coming your way very soon.

News : Back from the ‘Dam

Dam square, Amsterdam on NYE 2005
Happy New Year everybody!

I’m back from the rain and snow in Amsterdam and ready to start rocking in 2006! We had a fantastic time over there and enjoyed 4 or 5 inches of snow on Friday night which made it feel lovely and Christmassy! The people of Amsterdam are so friendly and they really know how to party. We ended up in Dam square on New Year’s Eve and the atmosphere was crazy. Loads of people with bottles of champagne and millions of fireworks going off. After the countdown we wandered through Chinatown and saw loads of impromptu firework displays in the street. I’ve never heard so many firecrackers going off. Good times!

So what’s the new year going to hold for you then? I’m looking forward to working hard on the site and in the studio to give you lots of new material to read and listen to. Even more than last year I think that 2006 will become the year of digital downloads. I’ve been downloading more and more of my tunes from dance music download stores than ever before. A lot of these sites have promos on there a long time before you can get hold of a vinyl or CDR copy of it. Sites worth checking are:

  • 3 Beat Digital – Liverpool’s 3 Beat Records have just gone online with their new digital site. I haven’t used it yet but the interface is looking good.
  • Beatport – This is a great download site. Lots of new tunes to choose from and a varied selection of dance genres.
  • DJ Download – The UK’s DJ Magazine got in on the digital download act about a year ago and they have a nicely priced selection of undergorund tracks.
  • Traxsource – A huge selection of labels and tunes. This is the site I like to use most often. All of the latest promos from your favourite labels appear on here. A fantastic site!
  • Xpressbeats – I’ve not used Xpressbeats yet but they have an excellent track record. It’s run by the guys who run CD Pool – a DJ promo service. This means you’ll get the latest tunes from them first.
  • Karma Download – This is something I just stumbled across while trying to find an old tune that I wanted. Seems to be a great site for new tunes. I thought it was just a normal indie/rock site but it seems to have loads of dance downloads. Check it out!

So get ready for a dance music revolution in 2006. I’m hoping to be there too as I’ve got loads of tunes planned for release. I’m currently working on a remix and hopefully I’ll get it into one of the podcasts before the end of the month. It’s going to be hot year!

News : Happy New Year!

 Sunday, January 1st 2006, 12:00 am

I’d like to wish all of the DJ Cruze readers and listeners a very happy and prosperous new year! May 2006 be a good one for you all! And may your hangover not last longer than a day!

2005 has been a fantastic year for me. I’ve got the website up and running properly now, the mixes are online (when I have time to rip the old ones from cassette), the podcast is going really well and I’ve finally managed to get some of my own productions started. I hope you’ve been enjoying it all as much as I have.

So what’s going to happen in 2006 then? Well, I’ve got lots of plans for what I want to do with the website. I’ll hopefully be giving you plenty of fresh content to keep you coming back. I’m going to be writing some guides and tutorials to help you find your way round a studio and how to create a music podcast. Plus I’m hoping to get some new releases out in January for you to download.

It’s going to be a good year!
