News : Computer hell and great tunes
So I’ve managed to save some of the data that was on my main drive but Windows is dying a slow and painful death! Podcast episode #11 is going to be delayed until the weekend when I will hopefully have reformatted, reinstalled and resecured everything. It’s quite amazing how many viruses, trojans, spyware and crap you can acquire from simply reinstalling Windows. Perhaps it’s time to move to a better operating system! I’m sure all of the graphic designers out there will tell me that’s it’s a good move to get a Mac and I’m sure it probably is but I’m stuck in my ways. Plus I have all of my music software for the PC so it would make recording the podcast and making music a lot trickier. And you guys don’t want that do you?
So your fix for funky house music will have to wait until the weekend I’m afraid. Hopefully I’ll be up and running again by Saturday (18th February) and I’ll get the podcast online as soon as possible. I’ve got some great new tunes to put on there: the new Marnix & Mustafa tune on Azuli, the Madonna Man With Guitar mix, that High Life track on OnePhatDeeva (what an awesome tune it is!!) and many, many more great tunes. Oh and the classic for this week is one of my favourites from way back on the excellent Vinyl Addiction label. I remember raving to that back in the day and you’ll just have to guess which 12″ I’ve picked until you see the tracklist and hear the podcast! If you’ve got any suggestions for a great classic that you want then holla at me girlfriend! As a special treat I’ll get some more old tapes ripped for you (….yes, especially for you Stefan F so stop complaining!
) and I’ll get the next podcast (episode #12) done as soon as possible after that so you don’t have to wait too long.
If you haven’t picked up any albums in a while then I’d highly recommend picking up the new Crazy P album “A Night On Earth”. It’s rocking on my iPod at the moment. You’ve got filthy space funk from “Lady ‘T’”, the oddly named but euphoric piano-driven “Bumcop” (…what is a bumcop? what a great use of the English language!), a smattering of 80s nu-soul on “Turnaway”, right up to the disco-pop stylings of “Sun-Science” (of which the chorus sounds like “World In Motion” by New Order but without John Barnes rap!). I’m loving this album even if it does take a few listens to get into. If you like your 80s disco and soul brought into the noughties then grab a copy now.
So if you don’t get a reply to your email then it’s because I haven’t installed Thunderbird yet so I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. I’m also going to get the website upgraded to the latest version of Wordpress too to avoid the barrage of comment spam that I seem to be getting at the moment. Hopefully that will be less painful than the PC problems I’m having. God, I’m full of verbal diarrhoea tonight aren’t I? That comes from being in the house all day feeling sorry for myself. I’m full of a cold so has anyone got any Lemsip?
