Finally episode #23 of the DJ Cruze podcast arrives at your door like an old friend. Sorry that it took a bit longer than it should have done. I sorted the mix out a few days ago and wanted to master it (so that it sounds nice for you all) like I always do. And then yet again my old PC crashed. So I’ve spent the last few hours trying to save the podcast and thankfully I’ve sorted it out. Fingers crossed that it will last a bit longer until I’ve copied all of my data over to my external hard drive.

Anyway, there are plenty more funky tunes on this week’s podcast. You’ll find some funky remixes by some superstars such as Justin Timberlake and Madonna. Yes, I know they’re commercial but when you’ve got the likes of Axwell remixing them does it really matter? They’ve got amazing vocalists and that’s what counts. I’ve also got an old favourite from Tall Paul which has had a fresh 2006 remix from the Rhythm Masters and also a great remix of the Sugarbabes by the ever consistent Seamus Haji. What more could you ask for? Album art you say? Well hopefully this show has album art. I won’t know whether it has worked until it’s on my iPod but fingers crossed. If it doesn’t then I’ll have to find another way. Do people really want AAC files rather than MP3s so that they’re iPod friendly? I don’t think so but maybe you guys want that. Let me know in the comments section.

Update: Yes, the image worked in iTunes and on my iPod! I need to play about with it a bit to get the correct size but at least the test worked. Please let me know if it works in other podcatchers.

Don’t forget to rate this podcast so I know what you like and don’t like. Run your mouse over the stars underneath the title of this podcast and it allows you to rate it. If you like it then give me a big phat 10. If it’s terrible then give it a 1. Go on… you know you want to vote!

As always I love to hear your feed back on the show. Contact me using the form provided and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. I’m always looking for new tunes to play on the show so if you’re an up and coming producer who’s looking for some exposure then let me know and if I like the tunes, I’ll play them.

Here is the tracklisting for the show:

  2. Dom at 12:48 pm on October 25th, 2006

Had a quick scan through it and I like what I’ve heard so far - except for the Axwell remix which I just can’t get to like ;)
More feedback to follow tonight, have a good one! :)

  3. djcruze at 1:58 pm on October 25th, 2006

    Kai - Thanks mate!

Dom - Don’t you like the Madonna remix? I love that synth sound!

  4. Nicole at 6:52 pm on October 25th, 2006

    Great podcast!!!!!!!
Jump and Boogie 2Nite are amazing!!!
    Hope see you soon….
    Cheers,

  5. Nick at 7:07 pm on October 25th, 2006

    Loving this one Marc!

And a massive thanks for playing the classic tune I requested a couple of weeks back (not to mention giving me and my mate yet another shout-out!) - dead chuffed :o)

Keep up the good work mate!

  6. Nick at 7:08 pm on October 25th, 2006

Oh, and that image thing worked a treat :)

  7. stefan at 8:00 pm on October 25th, 2006

    Hi Marc
Love the Teardrops remix and the Justin Timberlake Tune !
The Madonna remix is nice ….
but there are better Madonna remixes i think.
    take care
    Stefan

  8. Pete at 1:36 pm on October 26th, 2006

Wicked episode Marc! Loving this one. Can’t see the pic though :( as I’m not an iPod owner.

  9. Kai at 4:29 pm on October 26th, 2006

WTB a Forum Marc )) add a forum man ))

  10. antifit at 9:29 am on October 27th, 2006

Nice one and my iPod loves the cover!
Next step will be the enhanced podcast? ;-)

  11. Sergio at 7:32 pm on October 27th, 2006

    Image works for me

  12. djcruze at 7:44 pm on October 28th, 2006

Nicole - Thanks! Yeah, I love the Boogie 2Night remix.

Nick - No problems for the request. It’s an awesome song. Yes, the images work now in iTunes. Hurrah!

Stefan - I really like the Madonna remix. Loving the synth sounds.

Pete - Cheers mate. You don’t have to be an iPod owner I don’t think. It’s just an embedded image in the MP3 so if other software supports it then it should work. Not sure what supports it other than iTunes though! ;)

Kai - I don’t really want to add a forum at the moment!

Antifit - I’d have to record the show as an AAC file (Apple proprietary music format) to do an extended podcast. That would stop people who don’t use iTunes and an iPod from downloading it. I might see how easy it is to do a second feed but it’ll take me longer to make the show if I have to do two formats. I’ll look into it though.

    Sergio - Excellent!

  13. stefan at 8:53 am on October 29th, 2006

Yes it´s a Great vocal and i like these synth sounds too
but I miss somthing ( maybe a different beat or somthing like that )
Maybe I have to hear it more oftener to love it …
    Cheers Stefan

  15. Sascha at 6:00 pm on October 29th, 2006

    Hey Mate,
have listened to this episode several times the last days, and let me say: This episode is almost one of the best podcasts you have ever recorded :)This mix is damn f**kin hot!
Please dont misunderstood me, all episodes are great and i also like the electro tunes a lot, but this one rocks !
    MASSIVE ;)
    cheers,
    Sascha

  16. djcruze at 5:22 pm on October 30th, 2006

    Dennis K - It’s 5 years old and it’s a classic. I don’t have a problem with a young classic! ;)

    Sascha - Thanks mate!

  17. Marco Pinheiro at 4:01 pm on October 31st, 2006

Yeah Cruze, again a nice podcast! I love the Sugababes - Easy (Seamus Haji & Paul Emanuel Remix) - Island, in fact I just love the Sugababes and their best is the “follow me home”, I think.
You are inovating as I see with the image on the podcast, would be nice if could get images for all of ‘em.

Keep up mate and keep it FUNKY!!!

    Marco Pinheiro!!!!

  18. djcruze at 12:03 pm on November 1st, 2006

Thanks Marco. Yeah, it’s a great Sugababes remix.

Are you asking for images on the old podcasts? Or for images for each track?
If you mean the latter then that’s quite difficult to do as it is specific to the iPod and iTunes.

  19. Marco Pinheiro at 3:43 pm on November 1st, 2006

How do you do mate? Well, I was saying about images for the old podcasts, but if you can get images for each track would be off the hook but at the same time, quite difficult as well. I don’t even know if it is possible to get images for each track, but just for the podcasts work just fine for me!

Nice job with the tunes and the images too!!!

    Keep up and FUNKY, mate!!!

    See ya!

    Marco Pinheiro

  22. djcruze at 5:02 pm on November 3rd, 2006

Hey Florian - I’m just sorting out the next gig dates so hopefully I’ll have some more information for you next week.

  23. Marcel at 7:33 pm on November 13th, 2006

    Awesome Podcast!
there is only one mix I don’t like that much… sugababes - easy! ;-)
In my opinion, the refrain is not that “impressive” like in the original, but besides this mix…. outstanding like every podcast! :-)

    cheers,

    Marcel

  24. djcruze at 11:44 am on November 14th, 2006

Cheers Marcel! I quite like the remix of Easy but it’s a bit tougher than the normal Haji & Emmanuel remixes.

  25. Pete at 8:12 am on November 24th, 2006

    these tunes are MASSIVE !
    this podcast is MASSIVE !
    DJ CRUZE is MASSIVE !

Can’t wait for the next episode.

  26. djcruze at 10:16 am on November 24th, 2006

    Cheers Pete.

Yeah, episode #24 will hopefully appear over the weekend. Things are really hectic for me at the moment. It’s all a bit too stressful but hopefully I’ll get something online for you.

  27. Marco Pinheiro at 12:09 pm on November 24th, 2006

Hello mate! How are ya doing! I just can’t get enough of this tune man “Booty Luv - Boogie 2Nite (Seamus Haji Big Love Remix) - Hed Kandi” I listen to it over and over and can’t get enough, really nice one mate!
These days I was listening to an old Episode, #11# to be more especific and there’s this awesome tune too, “Nobody like you” really rocks and so is the Classic from this Episode “Medium High- The Pleasure”!
Thanks for playing these off the hook songs for us buddy!

Take care and keep it funky mate!

    Marco Pinheiro

  28. Marco Pinheiro at 1:23 pm on November 24th, 2006

Wassup mate! Nothing against commercial when they’re nicely played by you!!! In fact, I love the tunes with rich vocals and it is also pretty nice that you bring out new tunes and singers to our knowledge, I mean, not that we don’t know Justin and Madonna, but now you are making them fit into the funky! That is what I meant!

    Well done!

    Marco Pinheiro

  29. djcruze at 11:51 am on November 25th, 2006

    Hey Marco,

Thanks for your kind words as always mate.

One thing that I think anyone listening to new tunes should do is to ignore who the artist is and ask themselves “is it a good tune that would work in my DJ set?” If it is a funky tune that works for them then just play it.

    Cheers,
    Marc

  30. Marco Pinheiro at 8:41 pm on November 26th, 2006

Hi mate! I am with you on this one, I really don’t care if it’s commercial, or if it’s this one or that one who’s singing. If I like it, I just listen to it and that’s it! By the way, talking about commercial tunes, do you have that song from Justin Timberlake called “Rock your body”?
Once in Manhattan, I heard a really wicked mix version of this tune and I gotta tell ya, it was something else. So, if you do, please dig it out sometime or when you will launch a commercial Episode, play it out for us listeners of funky house music. Just a thought!

    Cheers,

    Marco Pinheiro

  31. djcruze at 10:28 am on November 27th, 2006

I think you’re talking about the Sander Kleinenberg mix of “Rock Your Body”. It’s an awesome remix. I’ll dig it out for you.

  32. Marco Pinheiro at 2:26 pm on November 30th, 2006

Hi there, mate! How do you do!
I don’t know who is this song from (”without love”) but I know Dobbie Brothers sing it and if you have, please dig it out sometime ’cause it is really nice and it’s got great vocals which I like very much!

    Thanks mate!

    Marco Pinheiro

  33. djcruze at 7:16 pm on November 30th, 2006

It is called “Long Train Running” by the Doobie Brothers. There was a fantastic Sure Is Pure mix in the early 90s which I’ve got. I’ll dig it out for the show.

  34. Marco Pinheiro at 12:31 pm on December 4th, 2006

    Thanks a bunch mate!!!

    Marco Pinheiro

  35. Marco Pinheiro at 3:46 pm on December 5th, 2006

Thanks a lot for the answer on my email mate!!!
It is a lot clearer now!
