Haha! Thanks for your support mate! When I get to do the Essential Mix I’ll definitely try and play some Funkfinders remixes and tunes. Now if only I could find some more time to get them finished.

Hey, don’t get me wrong here. There’s nothing wrong with a DJ playing some of his or her own records in a set. Far from it. It could be argued, for example, that when people go to see Laidback Luke do a DJ set, they expect to hear some of his tracks and remixes. That’s fair enough. But there is such a thing as going overboard. Deadmau5 played 20 tracks in his set – only one of which had nothing to do with him. Does the man never get any promos? Just playing your own music for two hours seems very egotistical to me.

That said, I probably won’t be complaining when you get your own Essential Mix, and choose to play two hours of Funkfinders tracks and remixes!

I love the Fred Falke stuff at the moment. Perhaps it’s because my childhood was in the 70s and 80s! I quite enjoyed the Deadmau5 mix but it did get a bit samey. Fred Falke’s still as guilty of playing all of his remixes though but then who wouldn’t if you got to do an Essential Mix! Nothing like a bit of self promotion.

This isn’t normally the sort of house music I listen to. However, it was a real eye opener. Some brilliant tunes. It was a million times better than the Deadmau5 essential mix the previous week – mainly on the grouds they actually featured other people’s music too.
