Bloody hell, that’s a pretty underground selection of tunes at the top of your chart this week – always good to see musical diversity! DJ DLG and Erick Morillo’s track was one I didn’t especially like until recently. I was on my way home from work one night and listening to Radio 1. I think they were live at Creamfields, and this came on. It sounded amazing in the car, and I’m hooked on it now.
Just one question – do you prefer the vocal or instrumental mix of “Hi Friend”? I’m not too sure about MC Flipside’s vocal on this one myself.

I bought a load of new tunes this week so that’s why. Next week’s chart will probably be the same as I’ve been sent 20 or so new promos which I haven’t had a chance to listen to.
I’ve loved that DLG tune since I first heard it but it was promoed so early by Morillo that you just couldn’t get hold of it. It’s a fairly simple tune in the French house vein (IMHO) but I think it works well.
I’m an old school hip-hop and hip-house head so I like the vocal version myself. It originally came out as “Bye Friend” which was an instrumental didn’t it?

Not quite. Deadmau5 originally made the track “Hi Friend” as an instrumental when he was in London for a couple of days. Somehow or other, MC Flipside came across the track and was asked to do a vocal mix of it. Oddly enough, this one’s been available on vinyl since late June, but only came on Beatport two months later.
“Bye Friend” is a dark electro track which was meant to be the B-side of this release. It never was, so Deadmau5 just released it on its own instead.

Ah thanks for the heads up mate.
I didn’t think they were still releasing a lot of stuff on vinyl. I haven’t bought any in ages now!
